Pearl is a pooch of several “firsts.” She is our first “honorary” Pekingese and our first “D.N.A.” dog of the year.
Pearl came to us together with Taffy (who has already been adopted). While we know that Taffy is a Pekingese, we can't tell Pearl's breed very easily; we know she’s not a Pekingese. One of our club members decided to sponsor Pearl and have a DNA test run so we can determine her breed.
We are all looking forward to the results and also to see what she will look like when her coat grows in.
Pearl displays an absolutely delightful and sweet personality. If you spend just a few minutes with this girl, she makes your heart melt.
We know that she is good with children and that she’s had great interactions with a 7 year old child who knew how to properly treat a dog. Pearl loves other small dogs and is quite playful. She weighs about 17 pounds, has been spayed, and is current on all vaccines as well as being negative for heartworms.
If you think Pearl would make a good addition to your family, please fill out an application. We adopt in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia and require home and vet checks. Pearl's adoption fee is $250.00.
Update 2-4-09: The results of Pearl's DNA test are in. It turns out that this sweet pooch is part Pekingese and part Lhasa Apso, so our mystery as to her breed is now solved. We have no doubt that this special girl is going to make a wonderful pet for the right family.
