Potomac Valley Pekingese Club

Wu-Ling is a sweet, loving little guy.  He’s about 8 years old and weighs 15 pounds or so.   Prior to coming into rescue, Wu-Ling was left to fend for himself quite a bit and was kept outside--not what a Pekingese is normally used to!  Consequently, he appeared to have given up on trusting people and stayed to himself.  He was adopted, and the people who adopted him did not take care of him properly, keep up his care or training. He was returned to us and we are trying to find that home where he can trust, love and stay for the rest of his life.  He has been dealt a horrible hand and he deserves better. We don't know how someone could have given up on this little man.

 
He is eager to please and gets along well with the other 4 Pekes in the household, but he does assert himself when the other Pekes try to intimidate him.  He loves his walks, playing fetch, stimulating toys (squeaking, musical, etc.), being talked to sweetly, cuddling, and being told he is a good boy.
 
He suffers no fools, however.  If he thinks he can get away with something, he will test it out.  He is headstrong and needs to know who’s in charge. He would be happiest in a household without any young children, as he startles at sudden movements. He is not patient with grooming, especially cutting his nails and after being in a home with little discipline, he has also forgotten his manners about where he is supposed to go ‘potty’.  We are working on both issues, with the potty training working out great, the grooming a bit slower.
