Daisy is a three year old female Pekingese who came into rescue on February 14th, 2009. She was saved from a shelter in North Carolina that had limited space. Daisy stole our hearts right away. To get her into PVPC, a great group of people got together and formed a "rescue train" to get her from NC to Northern VA, where she is currently being fostered. We think that Daisy was either a puppy mill rescue, or part of a confiscation. In spite of all this, from the moment she was picked up from the shelter, she displayed an extremely sweet personality and warm temperament. She is docile and very laid back. Daisy just wants to find a home where she can snuggle up on someone's lap, and get lots of love and attention. She is a sweet girl who will certainly make a terrific family pet. In addition, she is great with other dogs. Daisy is spayed, current on vaccines, and appears to be house trained so far. She will certainly tell you when she needs to go outside for a potty break.
If you think you have room in your home and your heart to welcome this sweet girl, please fill out an application.
Daisy's adoption fee is $250 and she can be adopted in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Home checks and vet checks are required.
Update 3-11-09: We received information on Daisy from her foster mom. This sweet girl is currently very skittish of most things (people, noises, tall items, etc.). If she sees or hears a garbage can being rolled up a driveway, she panics; if she encounters a stranger on a walk, she hides behind her foster mom. We have decided to give her some extra time to decompress and we will work with her on getting over these fears and on learning how to trust. Unfortunately, we don't know much about her background, so that makes it harder to figure out why she is so fearful of things. Her disposition and temperament are great. She's not aggressive in the least, so that makes it easier to work with her. We are hopeful that with time Daisy will come around, but until then, she will not be adopted out.
