Bao's (pronounced Bo) is a 15 month old Pekingese who was turned into a rural shelter by his owner because they had no time for him. Their loss is going to be a very lucky family’s gain because this boy is absolutely adorable. He is being fostered by a family who has other dogs and a young child. This is what Bao’s foster’s mom had to say:
“Bao is doing really well. I separate him from the other dogs while I'm at work but they all sleep together at night and there have been no problems. Our two Pekingese haven't been very welcoming and growl anytime he comes near them, but he doesn't seem to mind and has shown no aggression toward them at all. This youngster loves Sam (our Labrador). They play for hours and Bao follows Sam where ever he goes. I’m happy to report that Bao also does really well with 5 year old little boy and is often in his lap giving him "kisses" which my son really likes. I take him out on a leash and he does OK but at this point, seems most comfortable in a fenced in yard. He loves to run and play, so I've been taking him to my parent's house for about an hour every day so he can run in a fenced in yard. He readily comes to everyone, never growls or barks at strangers and seems to be very adaptable. He's well behaved, house trained (for the most part) and appears to be easily trainable. Bao is fearless and will jump from the chair onto the coffee table and from there onto the sofa. He will also jump over the dog gate that has kept out Pekingese confined for years. He readily goes up and down the steps, likes to veg in the bed and lies in my lap (when not occupied by one of our dogs). Everyone who meets him falls in love with this little guy. He’s so friendly and has a wonderful personality and temperament."
Bao will be neutered on April 9. He is current on vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.
