Potomac Valley Pekingese Rescue was asked to help with rescuing 18 Pekingese from a puppy mill situation located in Bristol,Va. We now have the 18 in rescue. The City of Bristol shut them down.
All the dogs and puppies are in really bad shape. They were living out doors in very small plastic crates with little or no shelter from the heat or cold. The conditions were deplorable. No animal should ever had to live like they have. Some did this for many years.
Several local rescues came together on Sunday to help PVPC bathe and groom the 18 Pekingese who just came in from a back yard breeder bust. We could have not done this with out the support of everyone involved. Each volunteer involved knew these dogs deserved to be clean and free all the mats and fleas that they have had to live with for years. You could see personalities changing as the dogs were being bathed.
Their real beauty became evident as the dirt was washed away-- and as it was coming off, you could see their countenance change. These dogs have had to contend with an incredible lack of the basics-- clean water, food, care and a clean, safe environment. No animal deserves this kind of life of neglect. They are now safe and clean, with fresh water, food and a soft blanket to rest on.
Thank you to all who helped us. Your presence blessed us and these precious Pekingese given into our care.
All these dogs and puppies are going to need a lot of medical assistance. The cost to complete our mission is going to be very high. Any amount you can donate any amount would be a great help. No amount is too small to Chip In.
