Rudy's test came back as being cancer. He will need another surgery to remove the mass which is in his ear canal. The specialist feel very good about being able to remove all the cancer. Rudy deserves a chance at being cancer free. Please help us by sending in a donation. No amount is to small !!! Thank you ! Click on the link below.

This was written by Gizzie's foster Mom. We just took Gizzie into our rescue.
Meet Gizzy! We are fostering him as his owner decided to turn him in to rescue after 9 years. It is day 3. Initially, heartbreaking...so sullen and despondent, would not BUDGE from the only possessions (bed, blanket, toy) from his past life. He is transitioning from discarded to courageous connection. Trusting us with each walk, toy toss and petting of reassurance. He started galloping after Tim from room to room!
Heartfelt thanks to Jeanne Powers Reeves and Linda Maxwell for their tireless advocacy for these little "heartbeats at our feet" and for inspiring us to foster.
Today, Gizzie is reminding me that there comes a time in all of our lives when we are vulnerable and need to rely on the humanity of others and it's okay to allow people to help.
Consider adopting a companion from a rescue group, or fostering or sponsoring the care provided to these animals. The veterinary expenses can be immense. A small regular donation can help a rescue group depend on a stable income.

When you travel do you take along important medical records or other important papers in case of accident or emergency? Do you carry your pets medical records in case of an emergency? Well, we have just what you need to carry these items securely!
The Medical Alert tube lets you keep all your records in one place and in an area of your vehicle that in case of an emergency anyone can locate them. You can hang it on the back of your car seat. Most first responders will look for information if you are not able to respond.
These tubes are made for our rescue to raise funds to help with our foster Pekingese medical needs.
We have them for sale.
Every car needs One or Two. You can also buy one for a friend or a family member.
$10 each or 3 for $25
We have wrist bands for sale. $2.50 each or 3 for $6.00. Email Potomacpekes@Gmail.Com if you would like to order.
We are in need of foster homes in the Va/Md/Dc areas. If you would like to open your home to foster please complete our on line foster application. We will provide all medical cost and food. All you would need to provide is love. Fostering helps us save more homeless Pekes. It also gives the foster time to adjust from being in a shelter. Once they have settled into their foster home we can make a better assessment of the type of home he or she would need. Please click here for our on line foster application. We do require a home visit and vet reference on all our applicants.
In June we rescued two Pekingese from a shelter. We did not know the female was going to have babies. They were born June 20,2013. Here is a video of their journey !!!

Is your pet Micro Chipped?
Did you register the chip with the company ? Please, there are so many lost pets with Micro Chips whose owners have not registered the chip. There is no way to get your pet home safely unless it's registered. If you do not have the paper work have your pet scanned by your vet to get the number and maker of the chip. You can update your information on line to most companies. Please contact the company to make sure your pets Micro Chip is registered!! Most shelters or vets do not register the chip for you when they are inserted. Also, if your pet is not Micro Chipped please have it done !!! It's very inexpensive and takes only seconds to insert and painless. !!
